Tree Falls Causing Damages and Large Power Outage in Jacksonville

Pacific Power is currently aware of a power outage in the Jacksonville area. As of 9:43a, there are approximately 968 customers without service.

There is a report that a tree has fallen onto active power-lines and onto the store building at the Chevron Station located on 5th Street.

Currently (10:15a) there is also water flowing from a broken pipe. The station has shut off the emergency flow of gas to the station. The building has not collapsed at this time, according to a witness.

There are no reported injuries. Traffic into Jacksonville via OR238 is impacted as first responders work the scene. Report of power lines across the OR238 roadway as well. ODOT, Jacksonville Police, Jacksonville Fire, and Medford Fire all on scene.

Jackson County Sheriff’s also have at least one unit on scene assisting. Jacksonville CERT has been activated and is assisting with the incident. Medford Fire reportedly helped rescue two residents of a nearby retirement facility that were stuck in an elevator after power was lost. No injuries reported.


11:35a Update: Power has been restored to all but approximately 6 customers in the Jacksonville area. OR238 is expected to reopen in the next 20-45 minutes.

11:45a Update: OR238 is fully open to traffic. Chevron on N. 5th will remain without power until crews can repair damages.
