At approximately 4:45a on Monday November 29th, multiple California Highway Patrol (CHP) and emergency units were dispatched to the northbound I5 near Adobe Rd in Red Bluff California, for a reported vehicle vs pedestrian crash.


CHP officials report that 34 year old Medford resident Zachary Mitchell, pulled over his vehicle, exited, and was standing on the east shoulder of the freeway. A 2014 Toyota Prius, driven by a 55 year old man from The Dalles struck the victim.
According to CHP, Zachary Mitchell died on scene. Authorities do not believe alcohol to have been a factor.
The investigation is ongoing, no additional information was released by CHP at this time.
