Medford Awards Revenue From Marijuana Taxes to Local Groups

Medford City Council recently approved a resolution authorizing the allocation of Council Community Initiative Funds, which are comprised of marijuana tax revenue the City receives for local and state marijuana taxes. The City Council allocates the monies for projects and programs that support our local community and meet the Council Biennial Goals.

The following is a list of items that the funds will be used for:

$75,000 to Medford School District to assist the North and South High School marching bands travel and participation in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. in May 2023.
$75,000 to the Downtown Medford Association to assist in efforts to potentially create an Economic Improvement District.
$250,000 to the Holly Theatre for renovations.
$56,750 to the Southern Oregon Historical Society for minor improvement projects.
$25,000 to the Evergreen Mural Project for murals on several properties along Evergreen Way.
