On Tuesday November 23rd, at approximately 11:07p ECSO 911 dispatchers received several calls regarding a possible shooting inside of a theater at Tinseltown USA at the Medford Center.
A witness told Medford Alert that one person was believed to have been shot inside of a 10:45p showing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the complex. Furthermore, she said that police locked down the theater for about an hour while they sorted the incident out. She heard a single shot from an area about three rows down from her seat. Police asked those in the theater for their ID’s prior to releasing them. According to radio traffic, the theater was calm and there was no panic as the lights were turned on and patrons were evacuated.
The individual theater that the reported shooting took place in was fully evacuated and searched by police and forensic investigators. There was a heavy Medford Police presence in and around the shopping complex and theater building as officers were securing the scene. Medford Fire and at least one Mercy Flights ground ambulance were also dispatched to the complex to assist with the possible gunshot victim.
As a precaution, the police were treating this as an active crime scene shooting early in the investigation. As the overall investigation continues, that may change. Several social media posts from movie goers stated they were told by personnel on scene last night, it was an accidental, self inflicted shooting. Police have yet to release any official account of the incident. The victim in the shooting was believed to have been shot while sitting in the G row of the theater. A witness told Medford Alert they saw the victim being assisted out of the theater by another person. The victim was walking, mostly under their own power, with some help.

At this time, the condition of the victim is unknown. There is not believed to be any community threat at this time.
