Grants Pass Police Arrest Suspect in Brutal Park Assault

On Tuesday, November 1st, at approximately 3:00 pm, a male adult victim went to Riverside Park with the understanding of someone paying back owed money. During the meeting, Damian Brown, a 22-year-old male, held a knife to the victim’s throat and attempted to take property. When he resisted, the victim was severely beaten by Brown. As the victim fled the scene, Brown slashed a tire on the victim’s vehicle. The victim was able to escape and sought medical attention.

The victim’s injuries included lacerations and contusions to the face requiring numerous sutures.

Following an investigation, Damian Brown was arrested on November 3rd for First-Degree Robbery, Second-Degree Assault, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, three counts of Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and Second-Degree Criminal Mischief. Brown was lodged at the Josephine County Jail.

No further suspects are outstanding, and there is no further concern for public safety regarding this crime.
