City Completes Renovations on West Medford Ballfield

Members of the Fagone family, Mayor Randy Sparacino, Councilor Kevin Stine and Chairman Dan Ratty recently celebrated the completion of renovations for Fagone Field at Jackson Park.

Former Medford Mayor Ben Fagone and his wife, Helen, were instrumental in the creation of the field in the late 1970’s, and it was subsequently named for them. Ben Fagone passed away in 1986, Helen in 2007.

Fagone Field served as the City’s primary field for high school fastpitch and adult co-ed softball for decades until North and South Medford each moved to on-campus fields in the early 2000’s.

The need to replace aging components along with increased demand for additional ballfields for youth practices and games in recent years necessitated the Fagone Filed facelift.

Last Saturday’s event was in conjunction with a U14 PowerHouse girls’ fastpitch tournament.
