Firefighters Battle Large Overnight Fire at Central Ave Scrapyard

At approximately 3:50a this morning, multiple Medford Fire (MFD), Medford Police (MPD), and Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) units were dispatched to the 1000 block of N. Central Ave for a reported fire.

Radio traffic indicated that the fire was noticed by a MPD patrol officer and was possibly spreading to other vehicles on the property. Seven fire units were initially dispatched.

That location has a history of fires; in the past it’s been a hub of activity for some homeless who gain access to scrap RV’s and cars behind the fences. There have been at least three significant fires at the location since 2021. All are believed to be human caused.
