Black-Market Marijuana Grow Suspect Arrested at Medford Airport

On September 15, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) and Josephine County Code Enforcement executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Kubli Road in Josephine County regarding an illegal marijuana grow site.

During the execution of the warrant more than 3,800 growing marijuana plants and approximately 1,000 pounds of processed marijuana was seized and destroyed.

The property also had multiple electrical, water and solid waste code violations. These violations could result in the civil forfeiture of the property.

On this same day JMET learned that Alex James Giebler, who was suspected of running the illegal marijuana grow operation, was traveling to the Medford Airport on a commercial flight. Giebler was contacted at that location by members of JMET, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and a K9 Detective from Medford Police Department (MPD).

Alex James Giebler was taken into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail for Unlawful Manufacturing of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana and Unlawful Appropriation of Water.
