At approximately 4:27p today, multiple Jackson County Fire District 5 (JCFD5), Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), Ashland Fire Rescue (AFR), and Medford Fire (MFD) units responded to a grass fire on the 3400 block of OR66 near Ashland


Upon arrival units reported the fire was spreading into nearby trees. Additional fire units quickly attacked the blaze and had it under control in under 20 minutes. There were no evacuations issued from this fire
As crews worked to eventually extinguish the fire, all traffic on OR66 was closed. As the incident moves into the mop up phase, ODOT reports the highway is fully open to at 6:30p.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries from the wildfire.
