On 9/4/22, a bear was sighted in a Central Point neighborhood, just to the west of Mae Richardson Elementary School.

Central Point resident Shauna Frost, posted this stunning video that her Ring camera picked up, early Sunday morning and shared it with Medford Alert. The authorities were notified and there were no reports of any damage or injuries.
During the evening of 9/5/22, there were multiple calls into the ECSO 911 Center of a bear in the NW Medford area.

The animal was first reported to be seen in a residential yard near the 1200 block of Sweet Rd. Later in the evening, Medford Police (MPD) units were dispatched to the area near N.Ross and Maple Park Drive as witnesses believed the bear was seen in that area.
There are reports that the bear was involved in a physical altercation with an individual walking their dog. There was also scanner traffic indicating that the bear may have been injured after getting hit by a vehicle in the area. Logos School, located on N.Ross, sent out a notice to parents and staff stating they have reason to believe the bear may still be in a field in the area. The school wants those coming and going from the school grounds to be aware of their surroundings.
On the night of 9/5/22, Bonnie Roberts captured this video of a bear in the middle of an Ashland street.
“I want people to remember that we live in an area where there is wildlife and we need to keep the trash picked up. It’s not only going to endanger our lives but there’s as well” remarked Bonnie Roberts.
