East Vilas Road Project to Detour Traffic for 5 Weeks

Traffic between Crater Lake Avenue and McLoughlin Drive will be detoured for five weeks.

Work has been continuing since early May on this important transporation improvement project which will finish up later in 2022.

The reconstruction of a portion of East Vilas Road requires a total of two, four-week detours to be in place. The first detour was completed some time ago and it is now time to re-route traffic around the section of road between Crater Lake Avenue and McLoughlin Drive.

Thru-traffic will not be allowed on this section beginning August 22, 2022 and lasting for five weeks. During this closure, work will focus primarily on reconstructing the subgrade base of the road for the full width.

Travelers will use portions of Crater Lake Avenue, Corey Road and McLoughlin Drive for any needed detours. Access for local traffic to businesses will be allowed – motorists will must follow the signage and traffic control worker instructions.

Motorists should plan to use other routes during the closures and avoid the work area if at all possible to improve safety.
