McKinney Fire Containment Reaches 90% Milestone

This evening, the fight to extinguish the McKinney Fire hit another major milestone. The fire is now 90% contained, while remaining at 60,392 acres.

Fire officials noted that minimal fire activity was reported today. There was observed fire smoldering and creeping, some interior islands continuing to burn out aggressively.

Firefighters continued to mop up heavy, down fuels and hot spots. Hazard trees are being fell while suppression repair is ongoing.

There have been 11 structures damaged, 185 structures destroyed, 11 injuries, and four confirmed fatalities.
