Crews Responding to George Fire West of McKinney Fire

Earlier this afternoon, fire crews were dispatched to the area of Scott River Rd in Siskiyou County for a report of a new fire.

The incident was named the George Fire, and as of 5p, it was approximately 20 acres in size.

Officials say that some aircraft working the nearby McKinney Fire were redirected to assist with the new startup fire.

The Siskiyou County Sheriffs Office (SCSO) has issued the following notices and evacuation warnings:

Scott River Road is CLOSED west of Fort Jones to Highway 96 due to wildfire activity.

An Evacuation WARNING has been issued for Zone SIS-1236: NORTH OF Scott River Road, SOUTH OF SR 96, EAST OF Scott River Road, FR 46n64, WEST OF Scott River Road.

5:35p UPDATE: Firefighters on the George Fire have made good progress, stopping forward spread of the fire. They remain on scene working on containment of the fire. An Evacuation WARNING remains in effect.

8:45p UPDATE: All evacuation warnings have been lifted.
