With the threat of isolated thunderstorms in our region, ODF says additional help has arrived in the form of a strike team from the Northwest Oregon area.
The additional crews are here to bolster ODF’s initial attack capabilities on the Southwest Oregon District this week.
The strike team is made up of five Type 6 engines and a strike team leader. ODF thanks Oregon Department of Forestry – West Oregon District, the ODF Northwest Oregon District and the ODF North Cascade District for sending these resources.
With continued chances of storms through the end of the week, there’s an increased risk of fires on the landscape. Officials say by bringing in these added resources ahead of time, it will greatly help in the event of multiple fire starts.
ODF states their goal, as always, remains keeping fires as small as possible and putting them out as quickly as possible.
