Police Arrest Barricaded Suspect in Central Point

Central Point Police (CPPD), Medford Police (MPD), and Jackson County Sheriffs Office (JCSO), are all on scene of a barricaded suspect.

The incident is taking place on the 300 block of N. 8th Street in Central Point.

The suspect is allegedly armed with a knife and is in a house with his father. He is refusing to obey police commands to exit. At least one taser deployment and bean bag deployment has taken place.

Police are awaiting at SWAT team to arrive on scene to assist.

There are a number of street closures in the area currently. Avoid the area as this is an active situation.

8:02p UPDATE: Suspects father has made contact with police and is attempting to negotiate with his son to surrender.

8:10p UPDATE: Suspect has surrendered to officers. Police requesting a nearby Mercy unit to the scene to check on the suspect. No current community threat. Avoid the area for the time-being as this will be an elongated investigation into the incident.

8:35p UPDATE: MPD, CPPD, and JCFD3 units have left the scene. The suspect is being taken to Providence Medford Medical Center to be evaluated prior to being booked into Jackson County Jail.
