At approximately 4:51p today, dispatch received a call for a possible grass fire near OR62 and Shasta Ave in the Eagle Point area. The callout was charged shortly afterwards to a structure fire response.

Multiple engines and personnel from Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) and Medford Fire (MFD) responded.
Upon arrival, crews reported a fully engulfed single family residence. Firefighters immediately took a defensive approach as the structure was beyond saving. The fire was beginning to spread to surrounding trees and grassland.


Fire command ordered a helicopter to the scene for visual support and in case water drops were required.
At approximately 5:10p, fire crews stated they were still actively engaged with the structure firefight. Other fire personnel had contained the grassfire to 1/10 of an acre.
5:18p UPDATE: Grass fire is 100% lined, helicopter is being released. Fire crews are still putting water on the structure fire. Some ground units being released.

5:30p UPDATE: Several fire units will tension on scene for mop-up duties. Currently there is no threat to surrounding structures or vegetation.
