Fire District 5 Leads Quick Response to Willow Springs Fire

At approximately 1:50p today, Jackson County Fire District 5 (JCFD5) was dispatched to the 200 block of Willow Springs Drive in Talent.

Area of Fire

JCFD5 had two type 1 engines, two Brush Trucks, one Water Tender, and two Battalion Chiefs on scene during the incident. A total of 16 fire personnel worked the approximately 1/10th acre vegetation fire. ODF also sent one engine in mutual aid response.

JCFD5 Battalion Chief Aaron Bustard told Medford Alert that Talent Public Works were doing fuels clearing in the field with a brush hog. They noticed the fire start and called it in.

Battalion Chief Bustard remarked that the fire is, “A great reminder to the public about how dry it is even with the rains we had late in the season. They had water on site as well but the wind pushed pretty quickly.”

There were no injuries reported and all units and fire personnel have cleared the area.
