A number of Southern Oregon and California agencies are attempting to locate 66-year-old Terry Knight of McCloud, CA in rural and rugged Northern California terrain.

As of Saturday, June 25, 2022, 66-year-old Terry Knight of McCloud, CA remains missing.
There are at least seven ground crews, one ATV Jeep crew, three OHV, 11 dog crews, and six mountain bike crews searching the area. CHP – Northern Division Air Operations have been landing and taking off from the baseball field at McCloud High School. The school has been the Incident Command Center for the last few days housing more than 70 volunteers from more than 13 county search and rescue teams.
Air Operations crews have been flying grid routes, l as ground crews search the areas surrounding the McCloud Mill. Any use of infrared technology is difficult due to the dense tree canopy. However, all possible methods and tools are being used in the search efforts to locate Mr. Knight.


Search teams covered more than 100 square miles in the first 24 hours. A jeep crew from Shasta County Search and Rescue (SAR) covered more area in the overnight hours as well.
The area crews are searching is remote, heavily wooded, and unmarked with loose terrain. Multiple bears and mountain lions have been spotted by SAR members. Rattlesnakes and known wolf packs are also a concern.


Friends of Mr. Knight say they use pink flagging to mark where they were creating new biking trails. Based on the surveillance photo authorities were able to get from a local business, Mr. Knight is believed to have trail-cutting tools with him in his backpack, including a shovel.
He appears to be wearing a light-camo long sleeve shirt, biking shorts, and yellow and black cycling shoes. He was last seen heading north on Broadway Avenue at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday morning on a blue Giant bike with thick tires.
The small group he bikes with told deputies he normally bikes near the McCloud Mill.
Air operations including the CA National Guard and CHP Northern Air Operations are part of the search efforts Friday, taking off from the baseball and football fields at McCloud High School.

Search crews have received numerous requests from the community on how they can help. Authorities are not able to authorize public search parties at this time.
