Flood Advisory Issued for Metro Area

• WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

  • WHERE…A portion of southwest Oregon, including the following county, Jackson.
  • WHEN…Until 3:45 PM.
  • IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS… – At 251 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. – Some locations that will experience flooding include… Medford, Central Point, Eagle Point, Talent, Jacksonville, Gold Hill, Britt Gardens, Jacksonville Woodlands Association Trails, Touvelle State Park, Roxy Ann Peak, White City, Agate Reservoir and Phoenix. – http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely
