No Injuries Reported in Royal Avenue Two-Alarm Apartment Fire

At approximately 10:26a this morning, Medford Fire (MFD) units were dispatched to the 600 block of Royal Ave for possible structure fire at the Valley Pines Apartments. Medford Police (MPD) and Mercy units were also sent to the scene.

The first arriving MPD unit confirmed an active incident and relayed they were encountering heavy smoke. Several more arriving police units began evacuation of the top two floors of the large apartment building as a precaution.

At approximately 11:37a, fire command called in a second alarm for additional resources due to the size of the structure and amount of potential evacuees. Additional Medford Fire and Fire District 3 (FD3) units were dispatched to the fire.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to one apartment unit, and knocked down the fire by 11:47a. Multiple fire units remained on scene to clear out smoke and mop up hotspots until 2:37p.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
