At approximately 8:50p tonight, Medford Fire units were dispatched for a possible structure fire on Royal Avenue.

As dispatch received more 911 calls, MPD units were also sent to help evacuate nearby units. Several callers stated that there was an apartment that was “fully engulfed” in fire.

We arrived on scene just after 9:00p as additional fire units were also arriving to assist crews. Medford Fire was assisted by Fire District 3 on scene.
Medford Police evacuated nearby apartments as Medford Fire was working to stop any potential spread of the fire to surrounding apartments and buildings.




We did see one male on a stretcher, being taken by a Mercy Flights ambulance to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
Medford Fire continued to cycle out personnel as they worked the fire. Smoke from the buildings roof, continued to be visible for some time.

There were a number of evacuated residents from surrounding apartment buildings that were watching the incident. A couple of kids received some stickers from a Medford firefighter, as they waiting to be able to return to their home.


At approximately 10p, command began releasing units from the fire, and crews entered into the mop-up and investigative portion of the incident.

Royal Ave was still closed to through traffic at 11p, as there were several MFD and MPD units remaining on scene.
Once officials provide further information, we will update. This is a developing story.
