On Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at approximately 5:28 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 near milepost 23 in Lane County.
Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Ford F150, operated by Gary Elliot Jr (27) of Oakridge, crossed over the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Peterbilt CMV pulling a trailer, operated by Jesus Diaz (53) of Central Point.
Elliot Jr. sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Diaz was uninjured.
Hwy 58 traffic was affected for approximately 6 hours.
