At approximately 9:23p tonight, Medford Fire was dispatched to a possible structure fire at 1773 Crater Lake Ave. Medford Police also responded to the scene to assist.

Dispatchers stated that there was a reported entrapment of a person on the second floor of the building that was on fire. Medford Fire command briefly upgraded the incident to a two-alarm fire. Additional resources were activated to assist.

Once fire crews arrived on scene the fire was confirmed. They quickly extinguished the active flames on the second floor apartment and alerted command that there were no entrapped individuals. The second-alarm was cancelled and incoming FD3 units were released back to their stations.

Crater Lake Avenue was closed between Johnson Street and Brookhurst as MFD had to use a fire hydrant across the street from the fire.
There were no reported injuries, and several Medford Fire units will remain on scene for mop-up and overhaul duties. The fire was mostly contained to one unit.
Mercy Flights also had units on scene as a precaution, but were released just before 10p.
