This is an update to our earlier article regarding the crash.
The deceased was a passenger in the vehicle and has been identified as: Munro, Shawn David. He was 30 years old and a Medford resident.
The driver was flown to Oregon Heath and Science University in Portland, where he is in stable condition. The second passenger, male, remains in critical care at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.
The investigation is still underway. The vehicle involved, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado quad cab was traveling northbound on Crater Lake Avenue, when it left the roadway and struck a large tree. Both alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be contributing factors.
