OSP Drug Detection K-9 Nero & handler take action to get more drugs out of Oregon
On January 26, 2022, an Oregon State Trooper and his K9 partner “Nero” stopped a vehicle on Interstate 5 near milepost 172 in Lane County for traffic violations.
During the traffic stop, the Trooper observed signs of criminal activity and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.
K9 Nero was deployed and completed an exterior sniff of the vehicle, and alerted to the odor of narcotics.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, with the DEA’s assistance, the Trooper located approximately 25 pounds (100,000 pills) of fentanyl concealed within the vehicle, as well as other drug evidence and paraphernalia.
The Oregon State Police say this investigation is ongoing. No further information available at this time.
