JCSO K9 Team Apprehends Suspect After Pursuit

Here is the link to our live coverage of the incident as it happened.

Last night, around 10:24p, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies attempted to stop a black, 2008 GMC Sierra for traffic violations in the area of Ross Lane and McAndrews Road in Medford.

The GMC attempted to flee and deputies initiated a pursuit. The GMC fled through Medford, Central Point, and into Gold Hill where JCSO deputies used spike strips to deflate the tires. The vehicle came to a stop in a residential driveway in the 3900 block of Sardine Creek Road.

The driver, Rita Cimfl fled into a wooded area behind the residence. Cimfl was found to have multiple felony warrants for her arrest including a $1,000,000 bail warrant. A female passenger was released without charges.

JCSO K9 Remco and his handler Corporal Hohl arrived on scene to assist in tracking. K9 Remco tracked the suspect through multiple properties and wooded areas. After tracking about half a mile, K9 Remco located Cimfl hiding in thick brush and she was taken into custody.

Cimfl was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on four outstanding warrants, and new charges of Elude and Reckless Driving.

JCSO was assisted by Oregon State Police and Central Point Police Department.
