Two-Alarm Fire at a Downtown Medford Apartment Complex Injures Two

A structure fire was called into ECSO dispatch at 12:27a at the former “Inn at the Commons”. The complex was sold over the summer and renamed “The Merrick at the Commons”. The rooms are in the process of being converted into apartments and also house Almeda Fire victims.

According to the Medford Fire Department, two people were transported to a Medford area hospital with smoke inhalation injuries. Mercy Flights conducted the transportation.

Units from Medford Fire, Jackson County Fire District 3, Medford Police, and Mercy Flights were all on scene.

There is no current threat to surrounding structures or vegetation. Fire investigators will be on scene throughout the day to look into the cause of the incident.
