Earlier today, at approximately 1:10pm, Central Point Police Officers responded to the intersection of Hazel and North 6th Streets for an motor vehicle crash (with injury) involving a vehicle that crashed into a tree.
Six high school-age occupants were treated on scene by Fire District #3 and Mercy Flights paramedics before being transported to area hospitals for further medical evaluation and treatment.
At this time one occupant was reported to be in critical condition.
The incident is currently under investigation to determine contributing factors to the crash.
The crash scene investigation is being conducted by The Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team. The STAR team is a joint agency investigative unit consisting of representatives from the Medford Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the Ashland Police Department and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
