All Southbound I5 Lanes Closed at Mile 166 Due to Crash

All lanes of I-5 southbound, are closed eight miles south of Cottage Grove (MP 166) due to a crash involving a semi-truck and trailer.

Officials warn this may be a long closure. Expect delays in the area. No additional information is available at this time.

8:44a Update: Southbound Interstate 5 traffic is being diverted on the shoulder around the crash at MP 166, about eight miles south of Cottage Grove. It may take several hours before lanes can reopen and for the backed up traffic to clear, so you may wish to postpone your trip. As a reminder, it is dangerous to use GPS to find a detour off established highways, especially in winter weather conditions. Prepare for winter driving conditions if you intend to travel through snow zones, even over I-5 passes at lower elevations in southern Oregon.

Final Update: Southbound Interstate 5 has reopened after an early-morning crash at MP 166, about eight miles south of Cottage Grove. Expect delays and be ready to slow down as backed-up traffic begins moving again. It may take several hours to clear because of the start of spring break travel.
