60-Year Old Man Arrested in Portland Attempted Murder Shooting

Police have announced that a man has been arrested for an injury shooting that occurred in Portland on the first day of the New Year.

On January 1, 2023, at 8:25 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 12100 Block of East Burnside Street after someone called 911 to report a shooting. Officers arrived and located a man who appeared to have been shot multiple times. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers quickly conducted a thorough canvas of the area, contacting witnesses and collecting surveillance footage. Detectives with the Enhanced Community Safety Team responded and assumed control of the investigation.

On January 2, 2022, the suspect in this shooting, 60-year-old Parrish Riggins Jr, was identified, located and arrested. Riggins has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on the charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree,

Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Robbery in the First Degree.

Additional charges associated to drugs seized at the time of Riggins’ arrest are expected.

All suspects are considered innocent until any/all charges are proven true against them in a court of law.
