Arrest Made Minutes After South Medford Restaurant Robbery

At approximately 5:56p this evening, ECSO 911 dispatchers began receiving multiple calls regarding a possible robbery at Mountain Mikes Pizza in the Black Oak Plaza.

Upon arrival, Medford Police (MPD) units began searching for a male wearing dark clothes, he also was reported to be armed with a gun.

A Mountain Mikes employee noticed the direction the suspect left and located a gun that was believed to have been discarded by the fleeing suspect. Officers met up with the employee and retrieved the evidence on State Street.

Officers requested K-9 units to help search for the suspect. Prior to K9 arrival, an officer located the suspect and held him at gunpoint until additional units arrived to assist. The suspect was compliant and was taken into custody without incident at approximately 6:03p. He was arrested near Juanipero and Murphy, just east of the original incident. The officers also recovered an undisclosed amount of cash from the suspect, believed to have been taken in the crime.

There were no reported injuries during this incident. There is no current community threat. Medford Police say this is an ongoing investigation and the name of the suspect will be released at a later time.
