Medford Adds Senior Cooling Shelter at Santo Center

Due to continued high temperatures, the City has extended a severe weather event declaration effective through Saturday, July 30.

The City is partnering with ACCESS, American Red Cross, the Jackson County Library and First Presbyterian Church to open and operate a cooling shelter throughout the week.

The cooling shelter will be open each day this week from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please note, the shelter location changes throughout the next few days:

  • Thursday, July 28: Medford Library – 205 S. Central Ave.
  • Friday, July 29: First Presbyterian Church – 85 S. Holly St.
  • Saturday, July 30: Medford Library – 205 S. Central Ave.

The cooling shelter will provide water, restrooms, popsicles, snacks, and cooling area and water for pets. Individuals may come and go.

ACCESS is looking for volunteers to help at the Cooling Shelter on Sunday, July 31. Anyone interested in volunteering or have resources to contribute are asked to email volunteer@accesshelps.org for more information.
