Ashland Area Prescribed Burns Continue on March 4th

On Friday, March 4th, Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission will manage two pile burns. One around Ashland ponds near Bear Creek and another along the east hillside of Lithia Park. You may see or smell smoke from these controlled burns so be aware.

The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will continue a controlled burn on behalf of the Ashland Forest Resiliency project along Winburn Ridge above Reeder Reservior.

Due to the location away from town and trails, officials do not expect smoke impacts except possibly along the upper watershed trails. Smoke may be visible from parts of the valley during the day if clearing allows.

Controlled burn crews completed 165 acres of pile burning so far this week to remove excess fuels for improved community wildfire safety and reduced risk for community drinking water supplies.
