Suspect in Custody as Medford Police Investigate Homicide

On December 31st, 2021 at about 12:24 p.m., officers responded to the area of 10th Street and Hamilton Street for a hit and run accident.

Several witnesses called in various locations of the involved vehicle as it made its way downtown. Several minutes later, officers found the damaged vehicle on Earhart Street, near Riverside Avenue, disabled and unoccupied.

Officers were checking the area and were made aware of a disturbance at Sis-Q motel, 722 S. Riverside Avenue, which was nearby.

The involved male fled as officers approached and officers caught him after a foot chase on Riverside Avenue.

The suspect was taken into custody at 1:14 p.m. Officers then discovered the other person involved in the disturbance at the motel was deceased. The victim is believed to be an employee of the motel.

The involved suspect is believed to have been involved in other crimes earlier in the day, which are still under investigation.

As a result there are multiple crime scenes. Detectives have taken over the case.

Medford Police asks for patience as detectives work through the difference crime scenes.
