Medford Police Provide Update on Poplar Drive Shooting

At approximately 6:49p, Medford Police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Poplar Drive for a report of an adult male that stated he had been shot.

Officer responded and arrived within two minutes of the call for service. Officers located the victim near a vehicle in a parking lot suffering from a single gunshot wound.

When we arrived on scene, we saw dozens of MPD, JCSO, and OSP units on Poplar Drive. A Mercy unit arrived shortly afterwards to transport the victim to a local trauma center. According to police, the male gunshot victim is in stable condition.

Medford police detectives were summoned to the scene and are currently investigating.

No arrests have been made at the time of this press release. The investigators believe that the victim knows who the shooter is, however has been uncooperative in the investigation.

Police take a person into custody at the scene.

MPD did take one man into custody after talking with a detective for some time. He is not believed to be the alleged shooter, according to authorities. His role in the incident is unknown at this time.

The Medford Police Department does not believe there is a threat to the community surrounding this event.

Police encourages anyone with information surrounding this incident to call Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) to be transferred to a law enforcement officer.
